Purpose: This was a part of a public input process.
View from the Cheap Seats:
Why are these designs not reflective of the town survey data, the City Noise Ordinance, or the Neighborhood Master Plan?
The Town Hall event in December was the 2nd formal public input event. It followed the town survey (data linked below) that showed some very clear and important public opinion. 78% of respondents registered a vote to keep tennis at the park, with 40% of all respondents voting to keep both courts. Additionally, x % of respondents requested that the space be used for adults and an additional 37% requesting space for seniors.
The data on those 2 points is crystal clear and yet, of the 4 design drawings presented for the attendees to view and vote on, 75% of those included a basketball /sport court which is in violation of the noise ordinance adopted in 2019 (55 decibels) and not reflective of the survey data. These designs were also in direct conflict with the Neighborhood Master Plan, adopted in 2019.
